Hurla Post # 3

"Did you just tweet that?"

I've been a Facebook user for a few years now and one of my favorite things about it is checking status updates.  What i didn't know is that they got the idea from Twitter.  Real-time updates has been the idea behind Twitter since it was created. I don't have a Twitter account, but after finding out how popular it has become and how many prominent people use Twitter I'm actually considering getting an account.

An interesting aspect of Twitter is that instead of using just advertisements directly like Facebook does, some businesses offer promotional offers.  For instance, if you "tweet" about a new product you could be entered in a drawing for a Macbook.  Social media can not only be used to reconnect or meet new people but also be used as a business tool.

One of the downsides I've taken notice of for Twitter is that it may not be the easiest thing to figure out at first.  Also, many people may have an account but don't always keep active when using it.  Although there may be downsides, every social network has its ups and downs.  I'll keep this in mind, when considering acquiring an account.
