Hurla Post #4

This week in class, we discussed Hulu compared to Netflix.  In the past, I have mainly been a user of Hulu.  This weekend however, I started Netflix's 30 day free trial.  Already, I know this is something I will continue to subscribe to.

Hulu is great, but I would not pay for Hulu Plus.  While the plus option includes more television shows and more episodes, there are still ads.  The advertisements don't bother me too much, but Netflix videos are ad free.  Another reason why I would not purchase Hulu Plus, is because the regular service is free.  The free version shows the latest episodes of many shows and that's usually all i want to watch.

Netflix doesn't really have new releases streaming online and that's fine with me.  If i wanted to see a new release, I would see it in theaters or just rent it from an actual video store when it came out.  The movies I like to watch are horror movies or comedies.  Thousands of these movies are available instantly and the genres never get old to me.

Here is a video also talking about the difference between Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon.

Amazon is offering a new service of streaming videos also.  I don't know much about this new service because I don't use Amazon, but I liked the analogies used in the video.

Right now, I'm content with using both Hulu and Netflix.  Hulu lets me watch the shows that I've missed during the week. Netflix lets me watch horribly awesome scary movies.  I see this as a win-win situation.  If I start to use Amazon, then maybe I'll consider their service too, but until then I'll leave you with the Alec Baldwin Hulu commercial.
